Fashion – SNEAKERPEDIA Launch Night @ Queen Of Hoxton London

2010/12/10

Wednesday 8th December 2010.

Today I learned that the people Foot Locker likes partying and certainly have a dedicated budget towards the marketing of new products and their related events!

SNEAKERPEDIA is the reason of everyone’s gathering at the Queen of Hoxton on Curtain rd EC2 and we are part of the privileged allowed into the venue. Welcomed by never ending flaws of delicate cocktails and canapes, we wander around in search of a cloakroom to deposit our heavy warm coats (it is still freezing outside even though the snow seems to be keeping away from London).

So what is Sneakerpedia some will ask? It is a new website in its beta version. A social platform for sneaker fans where one can upload a picture their sneakers (photo of your left shoe facing outwards and nicely positioned within a box, to follow the rules) and write a story about their related purchase. Sneaker fans registering on the website are then allowed to update their profile, from the profile picture uploaded at registration to the details entered then and all sorts of personal details.

People present tonight have the chance to register themselves exclusively onto the website before the official launch due to be in about a month’s time – we did so and were granted a special login card/lanyard specially designed for the occasion. Here a sneaky preview for you guys:

Entertainment was provided by the presence of an illustrator David Brownings http://www.davidbrownings.com/ designing hand crafted paper sneakers. A funny idea / hobby but fine cute pieces of art if you ask me. Look for yourselves.

Edit: Celebrities were present but it wouldn’t be for the help of Sophie I would not have recognized any of them… they seem to have varied from Big Brother to Lethal Bizzle.

Fashion – Collars and Coats Gala for Battersea Dogs and Cats home

2010/12/05

Thursday 25th November 2010.

Tonight Sophie is taking me to a red carpet event… The Collar and Coats gala in support for the Battersea Dogs and Cats home for their 150th Anniversary. The event is held at the Battersea Power Station and it is freezing cold with the first signs of snow in London.

After a train journey where I managed to miss my stop and a freezing walk here we are set up by the end of a very long queue of journalists, photographs, radio reporters and tv presenters. We then got the chance to move towards the middle between radio interviewers and podast journalists.

A lot of dogs were present of course, along with a bunch of celebrities including Shane Ward (X-Factor), Su-Elise Nash (Mis-Teeq), Mark Foster (Stricly Come Dancing), Amanda Holden (hosting the night), Craig Revel Horwood (Stricly Come Dancing), John Adeleye (X-Factor), Dr Christian Jessen (Supersize vs Superskinny).

Performances were brought by legendaries Brian May, Roger Taylor, Roger Daltrey and Alexandra Burke.

Sophie chatted a few of them while I was trying not to shake the camera too much…
